I have been a member of the Kansas City Barbecue Society for some time now. Recently I was certified as a judge and have been doing that this summer. My first competition was the Blues, Brews & Barbecue in Bean Blossom, Indiana then I went to the Central Illinois Braggin Rights Barbecue competition in Arthur, Illinois. These were both State Championship events where they pick a contender for the Jack Daniels Invitational Barbecue contest in Lynchburg, Tennessee and the American Royal in Kansas City Missouri. I will probably do just a couple of these each year. Sara and I also intend to seek certification as Table Captains through KCBS.

Dana recently graduated from Illinois State University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in Political Science and also received a Masters Degree in Politics and Government from Illinois State University. In recent years she served as an intern with United States Senator Peter Fitzgerald, interned with Project Vote Smart in Montana, worked for The Palestine News Network in Bethlehem and Common Ground Outdoor Adventures in Logan, Utah. In recent years she has traveled to India, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, South Korea, North Korea, China, Japan, Poland, Hungary, Austria,Viet Nam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. Recently Dana accepted a position with the Department of English Education at Chinju National University of Education in Jinju, Gyeongnam South Korea. While at ISU Dana was involved in International House, Illinois Day of Election Advocates, The National Society For Collegiate Scholars, Pi Sigma Alpha, Golden Key International Honour Society, Model Illinois Government, Model United Nations and the Caribbean Students Association. In 2005 she was a member of the Homecoming Court at ISU. She has written a number of awarding winning papers including Black Defendant, White Jurors: The Use and Misuse of The Premptary Challenge in the U.S. Legal System and Infiltrating the Adult's Table: A Realistic Look at Women's Participation in National Security.
